Why you can't sleep on a plane, and 7 reasons this 3-in-1 set fixes it

A neck pillow solves one problem. On a long flight you have three.

Three things keep you awake on a long flight

  • Your head drops forward. The moment you relax, nothing is holding it up, so it falls and wakes you.
  • The cabin never gets dark. Reading lights and seatback screens stay on all night.
  • Your arms have nowhere to go. They slide off your lap, and the air conditioning makes them cold.

Auranod has one part for each: a headrest support, a blackout mask and a soft arm wrap.

1. Your head finally has somewhere to rest

Your head weighs around 10 pounds (about 4.5 kg). While you're awake, your neck holds it up. Auranod's padded support straps around the seat's headrest and holds your head back against it, so when you relax, the seat carries the weight instead of your neck.

2. Nothing hot or bulky around your neck

A U-shaped pillow pushes your chin forward and gets warm within the hour. Auranod gets its support from behind, through the seat, so your neck and chin stay free.

3. Real darkness, without packing a separate mask

The contoured blackout mask is part of the set and is shaped so it doesn't press on your eyes. Reading lights and screens around you simply disappear.

The part other sets don't have

4. Your arms finally have somewhere to go, and they stay warm

Most head-support sets stop at your head and eyes. Auranod adds a soft wrap that hangs from the support. Cross your forearms, slide them in, and that's it.

  • Your hands stay put. No more arms sliding off your lap and jolting you awake.
  • Your arms stay warm when the cabin air conditioning is blasting, with no blanket to wrestle with.
  • Your shoulders can relax, so it's easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

5. Works in any seat, not just the window

Window, middle or aisle: the straps adjust to standard airplane, train and car headrests (in a car, only as a passenger). It wraps around the headrest cushion only, so the screen and tray table behind you stay free, and you can still recline.

6. Packs into its own pouch

Everything folds into the travel pouch and weighs about 12 oz (340 g). It fits in a carry-on, a backpack or a large handbag.

Questions, answered

Will it fit my airplane seat?

The straps are adjustable and fit standard airplane, train and car headrests.

Is it allowed on planes?

Yes. It wraps around your own headrest and doesn't modify the seat. Like a neck pillow, you may be asked to take it off during taxi, takeoff and landing.

Does it block the person behind me?

No. Fasten the strap around the headrest cushion only, and the screen and tray table behind you stay free.

Won't my arms get too warm?

The wrap is light and soft. If you get warm, slide your arms out or fold the wrap back.

Does it look a bit unusual?

A little. It looks like a padded strap with a sleep mask, but you'll be the one who's actually asleep.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 1-3 business days and usually arrive in the US within 7-15 business days in total, with tracking. Flying soon? Order at least 2-3 weeks before your trip.
